The Centurion Mk.5 AVRE is a combat engineer vehicle (AVRE) operated by the Royal Engineers of the British Army. It's equipped with a hydraulic dozer blade on the front, with an L9A1 165mm gun for crushing obstacles, and an enlarged turret basket. It was first deployed in 1963, and was updated sequentially from the Churchill AVRE, but it has been in service for a long time due to the failure to develop a successor to the Chieftain AVRE; it was put into operation in the 1991 Gulf War with increased armor. Its characteristic short-barreled main gun is the Royal Ordnance L9, which was developed after World War II. This cannon is used to destroy defensive positions, walls, bunkers and other obstacles.
