After doing some outstanding 1/72 Royal Navy planes, a pair of ships and a tank, Aki has gone all-out to produce something really unique: a 1/72 model kit of the Hispano-Suiza 12Ycrs engine. This was a fairly widely-used engine in the late 1930s and early '40s, powering French designs like the M.S. 406 and D.510 as well as foreign aircraft such as the Dornier 22 and Nakajima Ki-12. Parts count is minimal; however, all instructions are in Japanese, so go slow and study the photos in the instructions carefully! Also, this kit has an LED inside; plug the leads from the block into the included battery pack (the battery pack already includes batteries and slides into the large block of solid resin included as a base), hold the static-electricity-generator/starter (the block that looks kind of like a disposable lighter) close to the engine, and "click" the lever on the starter to turn the internal light on and off.
