With numerous variations and over 17,000 units manufactured, the US Army's M2 half track and its derivatives played a vital role in the Allied victory in WWII. Created by adding a tracked rear suspension to the M3 scout car, the M2 half tracks were well-suited for any kind of terrain. Initially used as a prime mover and reconnaissance vehicle, it later adopted many other roles, such as a mobile platform for various cannons and anti-aircraft guns, such as the M16 variation depicted by this kit.

Dragon adds to its growing fleet of US half track variations with this M16 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage version of the venerable American softskin of WWII. This release features new parts to model the M16, including the obvious addition of a completely new fighting compartment with its impressive quad .50 cal gun mount (muzzles are hollow!). The kit includes photo-etched detail parts and a fine set of decals by Cartograf for six different vehicles. Also includes full engine detail and clear parts for the windshield and headlights. Tracks are two-piece injection-molded assemblies. Front tires are molded bulged and flat at the bottom to depict the vehicle's weight. Includes driver and gunner figures. This is a "Smart Kit" release from Dragon, offering high detail with low hassle, with features like a highly detailed one-piece chassis frame.
