Last year was the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Russo-Japanese war, and a number of books about the war have been published. This book is another new book about the Russo-Japanese war, but do not think that this is one of those ?gre-edited books?h.
What makes this booook ook so precious is that the quality of information is outstanding. Over 500 pictures are contained in this book, many of them never before published.
349 pictures were taken by a Japanese army photography unit and saved at Nogi Shrine. 159 pictures were taken by a Russian photographer who was living in the city of Port Arthur during the battle. The Japanese Naval Academy used those 159 photos as classified references for educational purposes. What is noteworthy is that these photographs record how Port Arthur was destroyed in the battle; the series of photos of Russian fleet being destroyed are of outstanding quality.
This book will be one of the most important references on the Russo-Japanese war on your bookshelf. Highly recommended.
449 pages, hardcover.
