Description

This is an injection-plastic model kit of a scene or item related to the culture of Japan.

Located in Shimosuwa, Nagano, Suwa Taisha is one of the oldest shrines in the world, with its foundation dating sometime around the 7th century. This beautiful model kit is for construction of the Shimosha Akimiya site, one of the four building complexes that comprise the shrine around Lake Suwa.

Kagura Hall is the primary building at this site and was constructed in 1781. The shrine is known in part for its two "komainu" guardian dog statues -- featured in this kit -- which are the largest in Japan, at 1.7m high.

This kit consists of parts molded in light brown, dark brown, and grey plastic and requires painting for a completed look. The manual, though in Japanese, is straightforward and also contains a paint guide.

When completed, this kit is approximately 26.5cm deep. This version of the kit also includes a figure of Suwahime, dressed for the Onbashira Festival.
