The Ki-79 was a trainer aircraft development of the Ki-27 Nate fighter built by Manshu Aircraft in Manchuria. It holds the distinction of being the only aircraft built in any part of China during World War II. It was also the first trainer of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force in the post-war period. This kit is of the b version, a twin-seat advanced trainer. Panel lines are fine and recessed. A fret of photoetched parts is included to supply a very detailed cockpit, with photoetched instrument panels, seats, belts and levers. Vacuform windscreens are provided. Decals are for 3 aircraft: an orange trainer of the Mukden Flight Training Company in 1945; a camoflaged aircraft of an unidentified Flight Training Company in early 1945 and an aircraft impressed into the Indonesian People's Security Air Force in the post-war period. While RS Models are "short-run" kits, it is honestly hard to believe that looking at the parts. RS Models kits are easily on par with the major makers, and the added detail provided by the photoetched pieces will make them really stand out, even to the "flashlight brigade".
