Pit-Road / Great Wall Hobby’s kit of the 1/144 scale Victor is back, this time as the K.2 Tanker as served during “Desert Storm.”  This scale aircraft kit includes parts molded in grey, black, and clear plastic. Contains decals and parts for the assembly of a display stand.

The Victor was a British strategic bomber developed after WWII by Handley Page Aircraft Company; it made its maiden flight in 1952. The Victor, the Vickers Valiant, and the Avro Vulcan were called the 3V bombers, and were expected to undertake the nuclear deterrence of Britain. The shape of the Victor -- the smallest of the three -- featured its swept wing called "crescent wing," with angles which became gentler as they extended outward. It also featured engine alignment in which its engines were mounted in the bases of its wings, according to the trend of the British bombers of the time.

As Britain's nuclear strategy changed and operation methods shifted from high- to low-altitude bombing, the first mass-production type B.1 was upgraded to B.2, with its engines more powerful, its air intakes enlarged, and speed cones added between flaps and ailerons. In order to extend its cruising range, a refuelling probe was added on its nose and large drop tanks under its wings.

The Victors underwent development in 1961. Although retired as bombers in 1968, they remained in use as aerial tankers and retired in 1993, the last of the 3V bombers.
