Bandai surprised fans at this show with the 1/48 Mega Size Unicorn Gundam Destroy Mode, that towered over almost everything at their booth! It's been several years since we've seen a new kit from this line, so we're excited to see the final product.

Another new announcement came from the Master Grade line: the ZZ Gundam Ver. Ka! It looks amazing even in its unpainted prototype state, and is sure to be more impressive when completed. The High-Resolution Wing Gundam Zero from "Endless Waltz" also looked fantastic with its huge wings, and we're looking forward to the upcoming RG RX-0 Unicorn Gundam, the 1/72 Sv262Hs Draken III, and their other new announcements from "Gundam," "Macross," and more!

Max Factory

1/20 VF-1 Valkyrie

Fans of "Fang of the Sun Dougram" kits, get ready for three new kits! Max Factory is bringing us the Soltic H404S Mackerel, the Soltic H8 Roundfacer (light armour version), and the Abitate F35C Blizzard Gunner!

There's also a 1/20 scale figure of Alfin from "Crusher Joe" in the lineup, and a new "Mecha x Girls" series starting off with the 1966 Honda F90 Tiller, accompanied by Minori!

Hasegawa

Hasegawa's newest offerings begin with a newly-tooled curbside kit of the classic BMW 2002 tii, with two types of side view mirrors and front bumpers! A new kit of Hayate Immelman's VF-31J Siegfried from "Macross Delta" is also slated for June arrival, and a new-tool kit of the WWII Japanese destroyer Yugumo, a veteran of the Battle of Midway, is also on the way! The Mechatro WeGo 06 Power Arm is a pair of Mechatro WeGo 'bots outfitted with upgraded arms, and the new Suzuki Jimny JA11-1 kit reflects its second-generation changes!

Aoshima

Aoshima had some sharp new offerings to show off at Shizuoka, led by the all-newly-tooled Brabham BT52 1983 Monaco Grand Prix! This 1/20-scale tribute to Nelson Piquet's world-champion speed machine has a slew of faithful features, including its BMW inline four-cylinder turbo engine, as well as a removable cowl. Watch for it in July!

Also on display was an all-new kit for Maritime modelers to look forward to, the 1/700 JMSDF Mashu-Class Supply Ship SP! Set to launch in June, she's loaded with an array of fighter aircraft and vehicles.

This month's 1/24 Lamborghini Diablo GTR was another of Aoshima's deliciously detailed kits at the show, with new parts making this super car's interior and exterior even better. New parts will also make for eye-catching releases this summer, with the 1/24 LB Works R35 GT-R Ver.1 a gotta-get for Liberty Walk fans, and the 1/700 Japanese Cruiser Kitakami Kaiten Carrier reproducing the warship's 1944 modification.

Fine Molds

Fine Molds brought us a fantastic new selection of vehicles to set your sights on! Kicking things off was the 1/35 IJA Type 4 15cm Self-Propelled Gun Ho-Ro, which had the largest firepower of any participating vehicle in the IJA at the time! As this is a newly tooled kit, Fine Molds had taken particular care to precisely reproduce its distinctive open top, large 150mm Type 38 howitzer armament, and ammunition boxes.

The 1/35 JGSDF Mitsubishi Type 73 Light Truck (MAT) was also great to see in person. This light truck is armed with the wire-guided anti-tank missile commonly known as "MAT", which is again a completely new mold! The Type 73 Light Truck can carry four MAT. Following on from that was the 1/35 JGSDF Type 60 Armoured Personnel Carrier (MAT), which also comes equipped with the MAT for extra firepower!

Fine Molds had also updated their especially popular kit for the 1/35 IJA Type 3 Medium Tank Chi-Nu with a partly assembled crawler belt made of plastic. This change more accurately reproduces the weight of the track, and is more durable.

Finally, the 1/700 Close In Weapon System for Modern Ships is sure to be a useful kit for many modern warship modellers! The close-in weapon system is used by many ships worldwide, and Fine Molds have now reproduced this distinctive point-defense weapon system in fine detail. The CIWS can also be built in one of three types for even more versatility!

Platz

Get your workbench ready for Platz' breathtaking kit of the JASDF T-2 Supersonic Speed Upper Training Aircraft in 1/72 scale, coming soon! Another exciting kit from the show was the MiG-15 UTI (Twin-Seat Type) from the Finland Air Force in 1/72 scale.

Also at the show were new additions to their popular "Girls und Panzer" kit series, with the highly anticipated1/53 Kettenkrad taking center stage, followed by the 1/72 StuG.III Ausf.F with Kaba-San Team markings! And don't miss their new Shine Blade KIWA, a fine filing tool for your detailing needs!

Tamiya

Celebrating their 40th anniversary, Tamiya brought a real treat with the 1/10 RCC Tyrell P34 1976 Japan Grand Prix Special! This sleek machine is due to be available for preorder from July!

Tamiya also added to their Mini 4WD lineup with the DCR-01 - MA Chassis! This addition to the Mini 4WD PRO series features a body that is divided into three parts, so it can be enjoyed with a closed or open body shape, and you can also easily choose the perfect color combination for you by combining it with optional body sets! It also features a newly designed wheel, finished with super thin spokes. This concept machine is unlike any Mini 4WD before!

Tamiya transitions to the water for another fun release - a Water Scooter! With a motor and centrifugal pump, this seaworthy scooter will really power through the water! Speed can be increased and decreased, and it can be rotated left and right with a rudder.

Along with their fun new kits, Tamiya also brings us a useful tool with the Craft Side Cutter - For Plastic/Soft Metal. This tool is ideal for cutting plastic parts for RC cars. It can also cut through soft metal wires, such as copper and brass, resulting in a super clean and smooth cut!

ICM

From ICM, we were pleased to see their recently released 1/35 scale figure kits featuring German Infantry in Gas Masks, which were seen in 1918 during World War I. They also displayed their 1/35 scale kit of a German L3000S Truck, which was used by Germany in WWII. We also checked out their rerelease of the 1/48 scale I-16 Type 28 Soviet Fighter, which has new box art and new parts! We also enjoyed seeing their previously released 1/700 scale full hull and waterline kit of the German Battleship Konig, and the 1/24 scale figures of Henry Ford and friends, which always look great as part of a diorama!

Revell

Revell displayed some of their favorite recently released kits! The Porsche 934 RSR was up for view in both "Vaillant" and "Jagermeister" variations. Both kits feature an opening bonnet for extra display options!

We were also pleased to see their Messerschmitt Me 262B-1 Nightfighter, and the Monogram 1/48 B-29 Superfortress built to perfection!

AMT/ERTL

AMT/ERTL has made the devastatingly beautiful 2017 Chevy Camaro 50th Anniversary version available to modelers everywhere, complete with fully detailed engine, chassis and interior, and special 50th Anniversary custom parts just like on the real machine!

They have also reprised the mighty Mack R685ST Semi Tractor truck, with wheels missing in previous releases restored, and expanded decals!

And maybe best of all, was their U.S.S. Enterprise Box set, an amazing collection of seven kits of the most famous starship in the Federation at 1:2500 scale--including a brand-new NX-01! Snap-fit assembly makes them fast and easy to put together, and decals are included too!

Takom

Takom brought us a pair of newly tooled US Medium Tank M47 Patton tank kits, as well as an Israeli Defense force Medium Tank Tiran 4! Another impressive kit was the WWII German Rocket in 1/35 scale and its accompanying truck!

Meng

Meng continued their line of cute super-deformed kits from the hit game "World War Toons" with the release of new German King Tiger and Soviet KV-2 heavy tanks! A super-deformed version of the American WWII aircraft carrier Lexington was also on display at their booth as well!

Dragon

Dragon had a nice range of new military kits to show, including the 1/35 M752 Lance Self Propelled Missile Launcher in a completely new mold! The accurately-moled missile launcher can be moved up and down. In its launching state, the rear ramp of the vehicle will be lowered, and the driver's seat also changes position, just as in real life. As for the vehicle itself, Dragon have realistically reproduced the crawler tracks and the rolling wheel suspension.

They had much more on offer, including a newly tooled Type 95 Ha-Go Light Tank North Manchurian Type, which comes with a figure! There was also an IJN Type 4 Ka-Tsu, which was a Japanese amphibious landing craft used in WWII.

Finally, Dragon headed to the Middle East with their last two kits - a Sherman as used by the Egyptian Army, and an Israeli Defense Force M3 Half-Track with TCM-20 Anti-Aircraft Defense System. We can't wait to see even more of these kits after their release!

Other Manufacturers

Also on the way...

A new kit maker by the name of Revosys makes a big splash with their new kit of an interesting subject: the VK36.01, which was an early Henshel design that led to the creation of one of the most famous tanks of all time--the Tiger I!

Wingnut Wings also brought out a new WWI subject in 1/32 scale -- the fearsome German Fokker D.VII!

To the delight of 1/72 scale U.S. bomber fans everywhere, Valom will soon be releasing the North American B-45 Tornado in both early WWII looking -A configurations and the later Cold War -C variant!

A number of other manufacturers have also showed off their newest offerings, including Sword with their new kit of the Ki-102a Kou (Randy) in 1/72nd scale, Atlantis with their reissue of the classic Aurora DC-9, and many more from the likes of AZ Models, KP Models, Special Hobby, Eduard, Airfix, Amusing Hobby, Copper State Models, SBS Model and Veteran Models!
