Joachim Peiper earned fame during his career as a brave and excellent reconnaissance force commmander, through several operations in Russia. But the most famous event that brought knowledge of him to the world occurred during the "Battle of the Bulge". As the spearhead of the assaulting SS Panzer Corps, he led a crack combat group of armor, the "Kampfgruppe Peiper", and he fought fiercely until he ran ouf of fuel. This episode was re-enacted in the Hollywood film "Battle of the Bulge". Dragon has produced a lovely tribute to this distinguished Armor Commander, in 1/18 scale. Peiper himself is in a black leather "U-Boat" jacket which was popular among armor crew. The figure is made of PVC; both arms and the head are movable. To honor his well-known combat episode in the "Battle of the Bulge", this vignette has a road sign, posted to show location directions. The square base is black and the German tri-color ribbon of the Knight Cross with Oak Leaves, is draped around the base. A very fine tabletop display for any armor enthusiast, and a fitting tribute to a legend.
