Michael Wittmann is the most famous tank commander in the history of armor. As the German Waffen SS's assault gun/tank commander, he recorded 141 tank kills during WW.II. Important to note is that in the combat at Villers-Bocage in Normandy, the legendary dramatic story of the annihilation of British tank brigade by the handful of SS Tiger tanks earned him the name of the "Tiger Ace". Dragon has produced a lovely tribute to this distinguished tank commander, in 1/18 scale. Wittmann himself is in a black leather "U Boat" jacket. The figure is made of PVC; both arms and the head are movable. To honor his well-known combat episode at Villers-Bocage, some parts of the turret and upper hull of a British Cromwell tank are reproduced symbolically as a figure base. The turret shows battle damage, and is well-painted and weathered. The oval base is black; a textual sketch of his life, accompanied by a fine monochrome portrait, is printed on it. A very fine table top display for tank enthusiast, and a fitting tribute to a legend.
