This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
This astounding ship and her crew survived a great deal of damage done to them by armor-piercing bombs dropped by a Japanese plane in 1945; despite physical damage, fires and exploding ammunition, the loss of radio communications and the deaths of 724 crew, the remaining crew held together and with a little help the Franklin was ultimately able to limp her way to Brooklyn, NY. She earned no less than four battle stars for her service in World War II.
Trumpeter's excellent kit of the Franklin in 1/700 scale can be built as either a waterline version or full hull version, and includes a clear blue seascape base for the waterline version and a drydock-like display stand with nameplate for the full-hull version. Includes 60 aircraft molded in clear plastic (12 each of: Dauntless, Hellcat, Avenger, Corsair, and Helldiver). Decals for ship and aircraft markings are included. Finished kit measures 37.77cm long and 6.34cm wide.
