Advanced Category

The big guns. You know it when you see it. Airbrushed with highlights, a kit completely scratch-built, even a creation all your own that has never been seen before. Show some heavy duty damage or add those little touches that make it lifelike.

Join a group that best suits your modeling ability.

Post at least 4 work in progress photos over the competition period into the group you have joined on The first photo should be of the model kit you intend to build.
Step 4:
Submit Final Entry
Entries should include your name, the name of your modeling kit, and photos of the front, left side, right side, and rear. Additional pictures are more than welcome and suggested.
Picture Submission Specifications:
Landscape: Between 900px - 1200px wide
Portrait: Between 900px - 1200px high
Resolution: 72dpi
General Rules

This competition is for customers of HobbyLink Japan ( and is for the promotion of the company. Credit issued as prizes will only be issued to customer accounts.

Entries will be accepted from Monday, January 16th, 2017 through Sunday, April 30, 2017. Any submissions after April 30th will not be considered for judging. Winners will be announced by May 22nd, 2017. Contestants can participate in any/all groups in but can only enter their final submission into one group either Beginner Modeler, Intermediate Modeler, or Advanced Modeler.

Entries can be made using any combination of any model kits which were/are available for purchase on The only restriction on modification is that no photos can be touched up in order to alter the appearance of any enhancements, or imperfections of the kit.

Entrants can post multiple images of multiple kits in progress within the groups on, but entrants can only submit one final entry into the HobbyLink Japan, Playing With Plamo Modeling Competition 2016. A competition entrant who uses multiple accounts to submit multiple final entries will be disqualified.

Anyone who enters this competition with a model kit or kits that have appeared on the internet, which includes but is not limited to blog posts, work in progress, forum builds, competitions, review builds, social networks,, online video sites or promotions, will be ineligible to enter.

After the competition has ended and the winners announced, entrants can then publish images of their kits outside of

If we feel an entry does not match the category initially chosen, we reserve the right to move the entry to the appropriate category.

Only kits that are/were available for purchase through are eligible for this competition.

Winners will be issued store credit to their customer account with which they can purchase anything of their choice from Store credit will be available to be used for up to one year from the date it is credited to the winner's account.

HobbyLink Japan is not responsible for any items purchased by credit awarded as prizes that are lost in transit, or for any customs duties incurred.

Please refrain from using any copyrighted material in any of your submissions. The competition is open to everyone, except for and employees and their relatives, and anyone professionally connected with the prizes offered in this competition. and reserve the right to verify the eligibility of all entrants.

By taking part in the competition, you warrant that all information submitted is true, current and complete at the time of submission. Q. Do I have to use a Gundam kit, or can I build any plamo kit?

A. Any type of plastic model kit (plamo) is eligible.

Q. Can I enter with a kit that I didn't purchase from HLJ?

A. You can use a kit that was not purchased through, however, you will need a customer account in order to submit your final entry and receive any prizes should you win.

Q. How do I find my HLJ Customer ID number?

A. Your Customer ID number is included in every order-related e-mail you receive from HobbyLink Japan. If you don't have any e-mails immediately available or can't find your Customer ID, please contact us to retrieve it, using the e-mail address registered in your HobbyLink Japan account.

Q. Can I kitbash for my entry?

A. Yes, kitbashes are accepted.

Q. Can I use resin parts or accessories in my entry?

A. You'll need to submit pictures for the WIP through the group interface, which does accept mobile uploads.
