This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
The amazing Object 279, from Takom!
Designed to operate over terrain impassable by normal tanks and to withstand the blast of a nuclear explosion, the unique Soviet Object 279 featured four sets of tracks and a UFO-shaped main hull. Thick armor and a potent 130mm main gun would have made it a formidable opponent on the battlefield. The project was cancelled due to the Soviet military's decision to develop lighter and faster armored vehicles.
Hot on the heels of their first release (the excellent 1/16 Renault FT), Takom's next masterpiece is the unique Soviet Object 279! This stunning kit features outstanding detail and is incredibly accurate, owing to Takom's in-depth research of the existing Object 279 on display at the Kubinka museum in Russia. The kit features non-workable indy-link tracks, decals, colored photo-etched parts, plus complete parts to build two different style turrets (one with the long 130mm gun and another with a shorter gun tube of larger caliber...turrets can be exchanged anytime to display the version you want). In all, three versions of the tank can be built from this kit (Kubinka Tank Museum 2013, Object 279 1960, and Object 279M with the shorter gun). Another big plus is the inclusion of a highly detailed Chemical Defense Soldier with weapon!
With no less than three new kits of the Object 279 on the market now, Takom's surely packs the most features...and with its incredible accuracy, is sure to please even the most discerning of modelers!
