As the name implies, this method ships by air, and is limited to relatively small packages. It's a great choice for customers with a limited budget who don't wait to wait months for their items!
And, if your other shipping options are expensive, you can use Private Warehouse to split most orders into multiple Airmail Small Packet shipments to save!

EMS is the most affordable express shipping option from Japan! Besides being speedy, this method provided by the Japan Post includes a tracking number so you can keep an eye on your package as it makes its way to you. We recommend EMS for customers who want fast shipping, without the cost of a private courier.

Delivery to the USA, Latin America, and other areas may take longer than average in some cases. Customs inspections, delivery backlogs, and other regional factors may impact delivery time. Please be aware of potential delays before selecting this shipping method. Once an EMS package has left our warehouse it is in the hands of the postal service, and we cannot accept responsibility for any delays thereafter due to circumstances outside of our control.

ON-SITE PICKUP: Orders cannot be picked up or paid for in person at our office. HobbyLink Japan is strictly an online retailer and does not accept in-person pickups or payments from customers or forwarders in Japan. All transations must be handled through our website.

TEMPORARY VISITORS: We are only able to ship to permanent domestic addresses. We unfortunately cannot ship to a hotel, ryokan, hostel, dorm, rooming house, or any temporary address in Japan. If you are a temporary visitor, please use your address in your home country for shipping.

  • Trades speed for affordability; cheap but slow
  • Averages 4-7 months delivery
  • Great for big shipments, even clearing out your Private Warehouse

Surface Parcel is an affordable way to ship a lot if you don't mind a long wait. Since your package will be traveling by boat, it will take longer than other methods and will likely arrive with some wear and tear. This method is best for when you aren't worried about your item boxes being in perfect condition, are looking to save some money, and you don't mind waiting awhile.

An affordable shipping method for multiple items or large items.

Delivery Time
4 to 7 months on average. Please understand that this method is best if you are not in a hurry.

Tracking

We never request payment upfront for items we do not yet physically have ready for you in our warehouse. (On rare occasions, there are special exceptions to this rule.) Your order will only enter payment processing once the item is confirmed as in stock and allocated to your specific order.

If you are creating a new order, you can view shipping costs at checkout if you choose "Ship Now" as your processing method.* If you are creating a shipment from your Private Warehouse, the rates will be available on the right side of your Private Warehouse page.

*If the items are "in stock 3-5 days", backordered, out of stock, or (month) release, shipping costs may not be visible. Please feel free to contact HLJ Customer Support for more assistance.

That depends on the shipping method you choose! You can check out shipping information for your country in the Shipping Methods section above.

Didn’t get it right the first time? No problem! Our system will try to charge the payment method on file for your account for up to seven days (from and including the date of the first attempted charge). You will continue to receive e-mail notifications of the result of each charge attempt. During this time you can update your payment information as needed. Once payment is successful, you will receive an email to let you know.

When we receive an order for backordered items, we submit that backorder to the supplier. Typical lead times on backorder items vary immensely depending on the type of product and the manufacturer.

With some items, they may still be in stock with our suppliers and therefore available within a few days. With others, it may be until the manufacturer makes another production run of the item. If you need any further help, feel free to contact HLJ Customer Support!
