Adapted from the manufacturer:
The North American T-2C Buckeye is the third variation of the T-2 series. It is the U.S. Navy and Marines' training aircraft for flight missions on carriers for nearly 40 years. The T-2C was equipped with two General Electric J85-GE-4 engines, and its top speed was 834km/h. The T-2 Buckeye had trained more than 11,000 Navy and Marine Corps student pilots before it was replaced by the T-45 Goshawk in 2008.
Although T-2s were officially retired from service in 2008, the Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 20 at NAS Patuxent River continued to use three T-2C Buckeyes as safety chase aircraft during test and evaluation flights of the E-2D Hawkeye, P-8A Poseidon and MQ-4C Triton unmanned aerial system. They flew 1,978 sorties, 2,672 flight hours and 850 photo/safety chase events in VX-20.
The Navy's last flying T-2C Buckeye of VX-20 made its final flight at Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River, Maryland, Sept. 25, capping 56 years of the aircraft type's service to the fleet.
This premium edition of the T-2C Buckeye contains decals by Cartograf for two versions, color-printed photo-etched parts, and masking seals!
