Bandai starts this year's hobby show off with a bang, revealing their brand-new Perfect Grade kit: the PG 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G! This incredible new addition to the Perfect Grade lineup comes packing the massive GN Sword II blaster, which will measure 34cm in length! It also comes with the GN Buster Sword II, which you can recreate to perfection with LEDs. Its other weapons, including the GN Katar, will also be included for plenty of posing options once you complete your masterpiece!

We also got to see the newest kit in Bandai's RE/100 lineup, the Gun EZ! This continued range of kits features 1/100-scale kits with essentially no inner frame for greater ease of assembly, with newly designed joints for posability. Bandai also brought us more Real Grade goodness with the heavily armored Full Armor Unicorn Gundam, and added the bulky Dijeh to its High Grade Universal Century lineup! We were also excited to see the newly revealed HGBD Mobile Doll Sarah, with parts to display her in two unique ways, as well as their new Pokemon Plamo Eevee, Neko Busou dioramas, and so much more!

Hasegawa brought out a sharp new 1/72 kit from their Creators Works line, the Fighter-1! Featured in the space adventures of Crusher Joe and his team in novels, manga, a movie, and OVAs, the December-release Fighter-1 will be able to be displayed either parked or in flight. You get in-scale figures of Crusher Joe and Crusher Talos, too. All in a box illustrated by the renowned Tankro Kato!

From their 1/12 bike lineup, we got to see their upcoming kit of the 1/12 Kawasaki KH400-A7, featuring all-new molding. The runners feature plenty of chrome plated and clear parts, and the finished model on display was a sight to behold!

From "Macross Delta," they had their limited-release kit of Theo and Xao's Sv-262Ba Draken III on display, which is ready to jam with its new Lil Draken jamming system parts! The Lil Draken can be built either stored or popped up. Decal markings are included to finish it as either Theo or Xao's machine. Box art by Hidetaka Tenjin, too!

Another surprise at the Hasegawa booth was a new series of miniature mecha kits, the Mechatro Chunk! Similar to the fun MechatroWeGo line, the Chunk series are 1/35 in scale and a ton of fun to build, with a boxier look than their predecessors.

Also on display were new additions to Hasegawa's popular Egg Plane series, including a kit of the F-15 based on the anime series "Dragon Pilot: Hisone and Masotan," as well as the YF-19 from "Macross Plus," which should be a fun build for modellers of all ages and skill. Be sure to check out Hasegawa's full lineup of kits, available now!

Max Factory

There were some sweet sci-fi surprises at the Max Factory booth, with the PLAMAX VF-1 Fighter Valkyrie catching our eye right away! While it's part of their minimum factory series, there was nothing "minimum" or small about this impressive 1/20th scale model kit. We can't wait to see the finished version, and it will look even better paired with its accompanying figure kits from the Macross series.

The next surprise from their minimum factory series was a new figure kit of the lovely Deedlit from "Record of Lodoss War"! This was a nostalgic anime series for a lot of us at HLJ, so it was exciting to see it get some attention at the show. They also had their MODEROID Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa on display, along with the upcoming figures kits in the series.

In addition to their own products, Max Factory also showed off a new item from Good Smile Company: the Gridman DX Set from "SSSS.Gridman," coming in 2019!

Fine Molds displayed a superb collection of aircraft and military kits at this year's hobby show, including the aircraft that held the Asia-Europe airspeed record, set in 1937! They also had a Type 97 reconnaissance plane, the rugged Type 95 Light Tank that saw action on the Malay Pensinsula, and German ace Erich Hartmann's Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 at the time when he'd only achieved 21 victories! A new detail-up set for the 1/700-scale battleship Kongo was also on display.

Aoshima brings us a spectacular new-mold kit of the gorgeous Lamborghini Huracan Performante, along with a set of photo-etched detail parts exclusively for that kit! The stunning custom LB Works R-35 GT-R (in cooperation with Beemax) also gets a new kit and a set of detail-up parts!

WWII ship fans will appreciate the 1/700-scale waterline kit of the HMS Exeter's standard version, and you can add a whole fleet of the iconic Toyota 2000GT to your lineup with three new affordable snapfit kits, each molded in color so painting isn't necessary!

Last but certainly not least, Aoshima brought updated prototypes of their upcoming Persona kits, including the incredible Arsene, the Persona used by the protagonist Ren Amamiya in "Persona 5." The kit is set to release in December, so we hope to see it very soon!

Kotobukiya brings the sci-fi action to the All Japan Hobby Show, as they expand their HEXA GEAR world with a huge lineup of new vehicles for your GOVERNERS to ride! Be sure to look out for the Hexa Gear Road Impulse, Bulk Arm Grants, Wind Foul, and more, coming soon!

Another kit that you can't miss is the Gigantic Combination: Lucifer Wing! This transforming M.S.G. kit features a humanoid and beast form, and can even wrap around your Frame Arms Girls for some really heavy duty arnor!

Also on the way are new additions to their popular Megami Device lineup, including two new girls clad in dark armor that we can't wait to see in person!

The "Maschinen Krieger" universe gains a number of new fighting machines thanks to Wave, including some futuristic-looking long-and-tall oddities, as well as a kit of the reconnaissance-equipped S.A.F.S. R Space Prowler! A different type of fighting mecha from the animated series "Armored Trooper Votoms" is also on the way, with their kits of the Diving Beetle and Blood Sucker, featuring snap-fit assembly; the Blood Sucker also comes with a first-release bonus: a figure of Yoran Pailsen! And modelers can add lots of useful, thoughtfully designed tools to their workbenches with Wave's help, headlined by their HG Multi Angle Vise and Quick Change Pin Vise L.

Pit-Road had a wealth of great new naval kits on display! Leading the way is a magnificent 1/700 model of the legendary IJN Yamato as she was seen in her original appearance in 1941. Show-goers also got a look at fine new 1/700 kits of the USS Miami and USS Vincennes, on the way next month, and the IJN Musashi and IJN Yuubari, in the works now for future release, among a fleet of other outstanding offerings! The Royal Air Force's Avro Vulcan, armed with its Blue Steel air-to-ground cruise missile, makes a light landing in their 1/144-scale kit lineup, and the Yamato's Type 89 high-angle cannon with shield gets a resin kit release as well!

Platz kicks things off at the hobby show with the legendary Spitfire, England's main WWII aircraft! In addition to the Spitfire, they're also bringing out Japan's Mitsubishi F-1 and F-15J Eagle; all three of these 1/72-scale kits feature decals by Cartograf, and the F-1 and F-15J come with masking sheets to make your painting work even easier!

And scratch-build enthusiasts will welcome Platz's new tools, such as the Movable Kehiki Ruler SUZY for pinpoint-accurate measurement of metal sheets, and the Tip Taper Type Fina file to help smooth out the smallest of areas on your models!

Doyusha

"Let's communication!" Greeting visitors to Doyusha's booth this year was the Communication Robot AT, heading for December release in a variety of colors! Some eye-grabbing new aircraft kits also on display will please 1/48-scale builders: the F-4B Phantom II "VF-111 Sundowners" comes molded in a color closely resembling the real aircraft, so the model will look great even without paint, while the B-25 Mitchell will have a wing span of 43cm when completed to make a big impact in your collection! Accompanying their kits is a new Kisage Cutter with a short blade to make building your plastic models that much easier. And get ready to rev up the R/C Quad Buggy that's on the way, too!

Takara Tomy

Takara Tomy showed off their all-new Transformers Masterpiece MPM-7 Bumblebee, duplicating his appearance in the upcoming feature film! He easily transforms into his (fully licensed and very accurate) Volkswagen Beetle mode; we can't wait to see the movie! Diaclone, the forerunners of the Transformers, were also on display, spotlighting the new LG-EX Big Powered, the Big Powered GV (with new equipment!), and the Battle Buffalo Mk.IV (Striker), as well as the lethal-looking Rapthead. And the display of stunning Diaclone-inspired artwork was an unexpected treat!

Tamiya displayed an exciting lineup of newly tooled favourites and brand-spanking new kits at the All Japan Hobby Show! Our favorite kit from their booth had to be the newly revealed 1/48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I, which was on display in its completed form at their booth, as well as in individual pieces so we could admire the tooling of the kit inside and out. Another exciting addition to Tamiya's ever-expanding military lineup was the 1/35 M551 Sheridan (Vietnam War). The finished version on display was incredible, with two figures on the tank, and a separate photo-etched part set for the kit to add to its realistic feel.

We also took a peek at the completely new tooling of their M3A1 Scout Car. This vehicle took on a wide variety of roles throughout many countries during WWII, and it'd be a great addition to many dioramas or collections.

Next up was the Toyota Gazoo Racing TS050 Hybrid! Coming on Tamiya's popular MA Chassis and with a polycarbonate body, this fantastically stylish hybrid claimed the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the Le Mans Prototype class. With its highly aerodynamic body featuring a low bonnet and raised front and rear fenders, we're just as excited to hear about its performance on the Mini 4WD track!

Long-time Mini 4WD enthusiasts might remember the Fighter Magnum VFX from 2003 - and we hope you'll be pleased to hear it's received a major upgrade! The Fighter Magnum VFX Premium will come on the Super II Chassis, and we're sure you'll enjoy checking out the other improvements that have been made to its body and markings.

GSI Creos brings us a number of new tools to help modelers take their modeling to new heights! First up is the Mr. Deburring Rod G! This innovative tool helps you remove mold line and injection marks in hard-to-reach places that normal sandpaper can't reach! It's been designed with a unique curved blade; just position the blade on the part you wish to remove, and scrape it away by pulling it towards you. It's that easy!

Gunpla fans everywhere will welcome the new Gundam Metallic Marker Set 2! This set of six paint markers will allow you to give your Gunpla a gleaming metallic sheen that will make them really stand out!

Next up is the Kiwami Modeling Diamond File #400! Just like the Deburring Rod G, the Kiwami Modeling Diamond File #400 has been designed with a curved filing area to help you get into tight spaces! Perfect for those times when you need to file a part that straight files just can't reach. And with a diamond grit of #400, you get a perfect balance of roughness to smoothness.

GSI Creos also looks to help modelers get a hand of things with the Procon Boy Handgrip for the LWA Trigger Type airbrush. This add-on accessory will make your LWA Trigger Type airbrush easier to handle, so to speak, and you'll find it's become even more of an indispensible modeling tool.

The last one is a bit hard! That's because this 350g of Mr. Clay hard type is made with gypsum powder! Perfect for making figures, accessories and curved parts!

Takom's selection of fine kits keeps growing, further cementing their position as one of the top manufacturers in the world of scale models! On display at the show were their new Panther Ds, one with zimmerit coating, the other with clear hull parts, and the much-awaited M3A1 Lee and Lee CDL tanks with cast hulls, as well as their 1/35-scale King Tiger. Also stopping traffic was their Bandvagn 206S articulated personnel carrier. We also enjoyed their unique custom cutaway "Anatomy of a Panther" kit!

Meng

As always, Meng brings their A-game to the hobby show with a fantastic lineup of kits, including their new Bergepanther recovery tank, the upcoming British Army Husky TSV (Tactical Support Vehicle) and more.

But they've got much more than just your typical scale model kits! On the way from their "World War Toons" tanks lineup is a new Christmas themed M4A1 Sherman so you can deck the halls and deck your opponents in Meng's personal new old-fashioned way! Their currently-available U.S. Light Tank M5 Stuart from the world of "World War Toons" was also on display, rounding out their lineup of rounded-and-pudgy tank kits from this highly popular online game!

Godhand

GODHAND is known for their top-quality hobby tools, and they're adding to their extensive list of supplies with the Amazing Cutter, on display at their booth, as well as extra small scribing files, which come in two versions to suit the needs of both right-handed and left-handed modelers. They also had an adorable "Nipako" cosplayer representing their nipper-themed mascot, with an infectious smile!

Other Manufacturers

Some of the other manufacturers displaying outstanding items at the All Japan Model & Hobby Show included Beaver Corporation's very own 1/48 Sikorsky S-51 JMSDF version! HK models' 1/32 Avro Lancaster Mk.I was certainly eye-catching with its clear parts, and Masterpiece Models' amazingly lifelike 1/6-scale resin Utahraptor looked like it was ready to stride right off the table! Dora Wings' 1/72 Bellanca CH/J-300 was just "plane" beautiful, and then we fell down the rabbit hole thanks to Piece and their wonderful "In Wonderland" lineup of fanciful resin kits!
