This is a Japanese language book or mook about dolls or doll collecting.
This book offers a glimpse at the playthings and fashions of youngsters during France's Belle Epoque (from the late 19th century to the start of World War I). An introductory essay by Eiko Iwai, printed in both Japanese and in English, provides background information on some of the book's contents: mostly reprinted pages from French department store catalogs of the era, featuring elaborately dressed dolls, mechanical toys, riding toys, tea sets and toy soldiers... and so much more! Pages from Mode Magazine show some of the elegant clothing available for children at the time. There is a good amount of French text in the catalog pages; the engraved illustrations are also wonderful! This book would be a fantastic resource for anyone interested in antique toys or turn-of-the-century European culture. Softcover with dust jacket. All text is in Japanese and French, with some English.
