This is where all manga began!  Kaiyodo salutes the Japanese national treasure, the Choju-jinbutsu-giga, frequently shortened to Choju-giga and sometimes called "Scrolls of Frolicking Animals" in English--a set of picture scrolls of anthropomorphic animals engaged in humorous pastimes painted in brush and ink that are largely viewed as an inspiration for the idea of sequential art, which of course led to manga and comics as we know them today.

In this scene, a frog has just defeated a rabbit in a good-natured sumo wrestling match. It's been carefully sculpted to bring the the lifelike proportions and playful poses of the original artwork into three dimensions.  Add this artistic treasure to your own collection today!
